On the 2nd day of Advent...

my true love gave to me...
Sleepover tonight - pick a room and sleep together - a school night no less.
I'm sure a movie will be snuck in there somewhere.

Wonderful snow today. It doesn't seem too cold and the kids are outside laughing and giggling, building and throwing, cheering and "angeling" their faces off. The neighborhood kids have congregated and there is fort building and snow surfing going on.
Sterling is inside now (just came in) and is helping with the peripheral decorating. He loves to help and do these things.
Kaed is still out just loving life.

Games night was great last night:
Charades - everyone did awesome
Blokus - I kicked ass
Jigity - two different people one - I think I was one of them

The kids headed up after that and just hung out together. Craig went into the basement and watched some TV and the dawg and I sat and read a book. I listened while he read.

Today we got to sleep in a bit and then in anticipation of gramma's arrival we scurried (do humans scurry?) around and moved furniture (hurray! my trunk is a coffee table again - my dastardly plan worked!). The tree was set up, the ornaments hauled up and the we got the call...
"I don't think the weather is good enough, save an ornament for me". We're going to have our "hang one last ornament on the tree" party next Sunday at 4. Craig, did I mention that?

So, things have slowed down a bit here, one o'clock has come and gone (actually as I writing this it is 1:01pm) and we are going to wait until later to listen to Christmas music, drink eggnog (pop), eat hors d'oeuvres (probably chips) and be merry.

I just checked my blog stats and since I added the counter to the blog there have been over 1000 hits. If you haven't introduced yourself, please do.

I hope you have a wonderful day doing whatever you are doing.

talk later,
s

I just love this blog. Shannon, you are soooo cheery, whatever you're taking...I want some o'dat. It is so wonderful to hear that you're enjoying this largely busy time of year.

We are sitting in the Ford dealership at Grand Island, Nebraska. We are broken down. We lucked out though. We we're in a town that had a population of more than 10. Service personnel start at 7 AM Monday. Since it was Sunday, we decided to scout out the Ford dealer so we could be here bright and early, and wouldn't you know it, someone in authority just happened to be here. Told us to park in the back and they would look at it first thing. It's a transmission problem, hope it's not the transmission. Hope he had enough authority that they will look at it first thing. Jessica if you read this we didn't say anything because we wanted you to enjoy Ken's birthday dinner. The plus side of this is that I won't have to make breakfast tomorrow, we're going out. We are in a nice town with lots of hotels, plus we left Dallas a day early (must have known this was going to happen). If it can't be fixed tomorrow, we'll just check into the Ritz Carleton (or their version of it...not). They've had an ice storm here in the last couple of days, the trees are fantastic. Hope to get the camera out and about tomorrow, take some photos. To think that we were going to take the back roads and then Denis decided at the last minute this morning to come this way. We would have been in the middle of nowhere. The bonus here is that Deadwood is going to be on our route now and the prime rib there is succulent, not to mention the casinos. We then cross the border at Weyburn, a one man border crossing. Last time we crossed there the poor old guy was so lonesome he talked to us for half an hour...and no one else pulled up. Stan and Shirley, our schedule is still Wednesday or Thursday, but will let you know when we find out how long we are going to be here.

Love to all

Love this blog as well Shannon (and Craig's blogging once in awhile)! We feel like we keep up with what's going on in all your busy lives.

Since we talked, I've been digging and looking for a Christmas decoration that our sons may have made in their younger years - I feel sooooo bad - I can't find anything! JUST KIDDING! I really haven't spent time looking but have been thinking of when they were young and what they may have made but I didn't keep. I've kept so MANY other things but no Christmas decorations. Irene - I hear you kept your girls decorations and handed them down to them. I'm sure the boys decorations must have broken, fallen apart of something that I wouldn't have kept them. Sorry Shannon! Looking forward to reading about your advent calendar everyday. Nice talking to you tonight Sterling & Kaeden - have a great week at school.

Sorry to hear about your break down Denis & Irene - good luck with everything! Give us a call when you're on the north side of the border. Take care.

We're hoping to get news of the furnace being put in early this week. Hopefully it will be tomorrow but guess we'll just have to wait and see.

BIG HUGS TO ALL!
