sad

Hello all -
some tragic news coming out of our school today. A teacher was killed in a terrible car accident over the weekend. The accident occurred right around the corner from the school at a busy intersection. She is survived by son who is a student at our school (she may have more - but this is all the boys said). M. Avarell, Sterling's teacher left school early today to attend the funeral. As funny as it sounds, I was GLAD to see the flag flying at half mast. So often it is used only for dignitaries, etc.
Don't know if you pray or not, but please keep this family in mind. A son has lost his mom - there is nothing sadder than that.

I'm so sorry to hear this news. How did it happen, was she on foot or in a car? I need details. My heart goes out to her poor son. I hope he has a lot of family to help him through this terrible time. It just doesn't seem fair.

Very sad. Did you know the lady?

We had stopped at a lookout today to enjoy the scenery and met this
amazing couple who had also stopped. They were from New Mexico. They were doing the journey to start their new life as their old lives weren't possible anymore. They were driving this magnificent Porsche, Brand new, no plates yet. Unfortunately, the car was bought from the proceeds of an accident he had where he lost his leg below the knee after being broadsided while riding his motorcycle. She was making arrangements to move to New York City for the year so that she could undergo treatment for inhaling a chemical she came in contact with while cleaning her garage. He is a nuclear physicist and she is an artist/writer. He had hiked and skiied in Banff, mountain climbed and owned three motorcycles. He can't ski, mountain climb or ride anymore. She has a tracheotomy scar and has polyps growing around her lungs and heart due to the inhalation. All this within a one year period. They were very positive people but it sure makes you realize how fast life can change.

We ended up hugging our goodbyes and exchanged phone numbers. We said that we planned to go to New Mexico next year so she wanted us to call if and when we did. It's quite amazing how people meet and come together and how a conversation with a complete stranger has a way of affecting you. It was wonderful meeting them even if our paths never cross again.

Love to all

We do pray and we will pray for this teacher's son and the family involved. How sad for her students and what they will have to go through with a new teacher already. At the Comp they were always very good about the flag - for dignitaries, teachers or students - out of respect for families and friends. Not much of a Thanksgiving for this family and will maybe help us remember all the things we have to be thankful for.

What a sad story of the couple you met Denis & Irene. How a year can change a lifetime. It would be neat if you could meet up with them next year.

And "yes" Irene - we do have the most adorable grandchildren in the world!!!

Good night from southern Saskatchewan!
