catch up

Happy Sunday - playing catch up for the picture of the day today. Have still been taking photos but couldn't bring myself to get on the old blog yesterday!

Sterling loves music class - NOT - and his teacher knows it. She provides him with paper and a pencil during class to prevent him from being a distraction (must be nice). This is one of his masterpieces he has made in her class. Alien/zombie. Funny thing is that it is one of his best subjects. Either she's passing him just to get through the year or he really doesn't do too badly. Who knows.

For our anniversary, Stan and Shirley gave us this silver "globe". What's cool about it is that you can take pictures looking into it. Didn't say they were good pictures, but they are pictures! This is one of Kaedo and I. He seems to be the one around the most during picture time.

We got some snow here this weekend and Kaedo and his buddy L played outside for hours yesterday. This is one of Kaedo jumping into the snow. They had so much fun and it is great to see kids outside in the winter. I love it. During one of their breaks, Kaedo and L came in for hot chocolate and to play a little then quickly returned outside to play until dark.

Without prejudice...that is a great piece of art. We have seen a lot of art by persons still in school and cannot believe the talent that these young people have. Sterling, I'm sure this would have made the student wall at the Dali Museum, I kid you not. From an adult perspective, you have truly embraced the misgivings and trepidation of the younger generation. My opinion only but I am totally serious as that is what I interpret when I look at it. Well done!

The snow looks like a lot of fun Kaedo, but I'd rather be in the sand. Glad you're enjoying winter as it really is a long season.

Went to Camping World for some purchases yesterday and then hit the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino on the way back. That is some casino. It took us about half an hour to park. They are building three new parkades attached to it and they really need them. We didn't stay too long, won a very small amount of money and checked out all the memorabilia from Elvis and Janis Joplin to Justin Beiber. If there weren't 10,000 people there, there weren't any. It totally rocked and we had a lot of fun.

Today we went to the Holocaust Museum where they also had a Jim Crow private exhibit. We spent five hours there and although it was family friendly due to no disturbing photos, etc. it still made a knot in your tummy. There were audio sets and the stories were incredible for the Jewish part of the gallery. The Jim Crow exhibit had large photos and reading plaques and that made it just as disturbing. In the '60s when Denis and I used to go to the eastern states we always met a few blacks that were so well educated and we wondered how they did it considering their circumstances. It seems the Jewish professors that were lucky enough to escape Europe and were lucky enough to be granted the right to stay in the US taught at these black schools. There's even a photo of Einstein teaching a class well before integration. Totally fascinating, totally disturbing that such terrible things could have happened to people just because of their color or creed.

The weather is lovely, sunny and cloudy but about 24C. Hope it's no warmer than that tomorrow for our sojourn to Sarasota.

Hope everyone has great weather.

Love to all
