Christmas Eve Fundue

Our Fundue was great as always. This is something the boys really look forward to. Who are we kidding? We all look forward to. This is as close as we get to a meal here at Christmas time. This year we had grapes, oranges, pineapple, cherries, marshmallows. That's all the boys wanted so that's what we went with. The food was delicious and while we had many 'jumpers' we rescued all our falling food and enjoyed every delicious bite. We ended the evening with the boys showing us YouTube videos of things they thought were hilarious. I must admit, I did chuckle a bit.

My teeth hurt just looking at all that sweet but I know it tastes good and we enjoyed it last year. We had steak and seafood with stuffed potatoes, salad and vegetables. Seafood is our traditional Christmas Eve as you know, however, the cost is prohibitive this year so we decided on filet and shrimp instead. It was delicious.

Beryl and Lorne brought over a container of baking yesterday. There was Christmas cake, Nanaimo bars, gingerbread men, 3 types of shortbread, dark and white chocolate bark and rum balls. She said the butter tarts were coming. Beryl bakes all this, and tons of it, in her RV. She has a double wide fridge/freezer and cooking is her thing.

Yesterday we did the circuit at Lion's Park, Rotary Park and the girls played at the parks there. We walked across London Bridge and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. Today we are heading to the desert bar, that's a neat experience for a first time visitor. The girls are welcome there also. There is a dance floor, live band and helicopter rides. They serve a very basic hamburger, sell a huge array of T shirts and also liquor. The road is so grueling to get there that people usually only have one drink, we've never seen an inebriated person there ever. You need all your wits about you not to go off the road.

Tomorrow is the Havasu market and that is a fun time. Afterward, we plan to go to Oatman so that the girls can feed the wild burros and watch a shootout.

The weather is definitely not warm. We keep a small heater on at night and put the furnace on in the morning to warm it up. The days are jackets on, jackets off. The sun is hot but the air is cool, not warm enough to go swimming.

New Year's Eve celebration is sold out here in the park. This is a really upscale park with casettas and ramadas. A lot of people have bought into here but there are some unsold lots that they rent out. Palm trees on every lot and huge concrete pads, the full length. One of the nicest we've every been in.

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week and a fun New Year's Eve.

Love to all

We remember our "Fundue" with you on Christmas Eve in 2010 as well - it was delicious! It is a tradition that our friends Dennis & Elaine did on Christmas Eve as well and something that they kept up for many years. It is a fun thing to remember doing as a family. Our Christmas Eve was putting out all kinds of "goodies" and watching a movie.

Kelly hooked up the movie "Christmas With The Kranks" on December 26th and I loved it! It was almost as good as "Blind Date" - we watched it at your place with the boys and I loved it as well.

Our company all left yesterday around 10:30 a.m. so the house was pretty quiet. We had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends and the time goes by way too quickly.

Sounds like you're having a blast Denis & Irene - thanks for the e-mail and will answer in the New Year.

Getting ready to head out to Stan's uncle's funeral this afternoon. After the funeral, the "Klassen" families are going out for supper together for our Christmas get-together and over to Gord & Sandra's for coffee and dessert. We have decided to drop the 26th get-together so hope this works.

Love you lots - BIG HUGS TO ALL!
