Say What?????

We recently got a letter from our Municipality requesting opinions on setting up our side of the street as a no parking zone. Craig was quick to reply. We are not opposed to their being periods of time in which the No Parking should exist, say 8-4pm or something like that but we wanted to be able to park in front of our house on the weekends when the kids want to play hockey or basketball. Craig received a reply and the administrator was very matter of fact - the decision had already been made to put up the signs and if you wanted a permit to park on the street they were $39.55 per vehicle. That's for the residents. Absolutely ludicrous. Interestingly enough it hasn't stopped anyone from parking in front of our house and there are no meter maids to be found patrolling the area. One thing I'm sure of though - the minute I park the car out there so the kids can play I'm going to get screwed.

I think we were talking about that at Christmas time as there is never anywhere to park on your street when clinic hours are in session. Amazing that they would charge you to park in front of your own house. Not sure what happens here when "resident only parking" is in effect.

Another day of cleaning and packing. Everything is out in the trailers and truck and we're sleeping in the motorhome. Friends came to move the really heavy stuff and others took the girls for the day. Tomorrow is just the finishing up and again the children will be with other friends. Friends really make a difference and you sure know who they are in times of need. We are looking forward to helping renovate the new house but we're happy to have a little holiday prior to that happening.

Our weather kind of sucks today, it snowed last night and some of the outside furniture had to be brushed off so that it could be loaded. The new owners came by this afternoon and Jessica showed them how to work everything. That is such a civilized way of doing things rather than have the realtors try to do it. They are lovely people and Jessica is happy that they have bought the house considering all the hassle they had to go through with an unnamed party.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Love to all
