Conversations

I spoke with my aunt today. We spoke about my gramma and what a wonderful woman she was. My gramma was a smart thinker and in her older years she labelled everything that she received as a gift with the name of the giver. Her thought was that one day she would return these items to them. When I cleaned out my gramma's room there were a lot of memories there for me. Things I remember her always having. My aunt spoke with me today about some of my gramma's treasures and asked me if I would like some of them. I am honored to have the opportunity to have something my gramma loved in my home. I don't know how I'll feel once they are actually in my hands but I was grateful to my aunt for thinking of me. One of the things that Kaedo asked for was gramma's SKIPBO set and when I spoke with my aunt today she thought it was a wonderful idea to give it to him. I'm going to tell him after school. He'll be thrilled.

It will be very special to have something of your gramma's Shannon. When we moved mom from her apartment, she had alot of things marked and one of the items I brought home were my gramma's "American Beauty" Royal Albert Bone China - England dishes. I always admired them in my gramma's china cabinet, then in mom's and now they are in my china cabinet and when I sit at the kitchen table and look at them, they bring memories of my gramma and us having a "special" cup of tea together in her fancy china. Also when I was working, mom would call and have me over for lunch and she would take out gramma's china for us to have dinner with. Those are very special memories that I have to keep remembering. Enjoy your gramma's treasures Shannon.

We have another beautiful day here with blue sky & sunshine but as always - lots of wind and temp +15 but with the wind, it feels alot cooler.

I went to Line Dancing this morning and am still taking it easy with my knee, wearing a knee brace to make me behave, Stan went for coffee and then we went for lunch with Larry & Faye. Stan's out working in the garage on a rain barrel, getting it ready for Friday when we're supposed to get snow and rain!

Hope you're all having a great day - BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE!

Thanks for the good wishes of safe travel Shirley. We arrived in Lethbridge around 3, amazed at the fast time we made. We left Vegas around 1.45 on Monday, got stuck in road construction for 1-1/2 hours and didn't get away from Mesquite until after 4. We drove as far as Cedar City, Utah where we stayed the night. Yesterday we drove 1075 kms and made it all the way to Butte Montana, a record I would think. The key is getting behind the wheel in your PJs at 6.30, driving for 2-1/2 hours then stopping to make breakfast and take a shower. After that, you feel that you just got behind the wheel but you already have 250 kms under your belt. We decided that Dillon was as far as we were going so we drove into the town, saw that the only thing exciting was some poor farmer who only had 5 round bales left on his 15 bale trailer, the rest lying all over the road... some intact, others not so much. We decided to carry on, arriving at the biggest truck stop we've ever stayed at around 7 in Butte. We parked and this guy pulled up beside us, literally blocking our exit. I asked him if he was going to stay there, he said "I'm 129 ft. long, where else can I stay". We assured him that we wouldn't be leaving before him so we had a wonderful quiet night at the busiest truck stop. They are my favorite places when on the road, loads going on, lots to see and lots of great people to talk with. The border was a breeze, after us old folks complained to the government about gestapo border people. The Snowbird association took them to task about harassing us when we come back home. They are very pleasant now which is a real improvement over a few years ago when you had to tell them what jerks they were...then the fight was on...and they really couldn't find anything to win their case....so they had to let you go anyway. Everyone is always very nice to the US border guards though as they can just turn you around without any explanation.

The park here is half full, amazing. We were getting organized and looked out our window to see our friends Dean and Jane from Kelowna. They are staying here until Friday so we had a wonderful happy hour that took care of supper hour. It's great to see old friends, especially when you've only been parked an hour.

It's actually not too cold here although Denis says he's freezing. Old people do get cold easily though...no?

Love to all

Sorry that I neglected to comment on grandma's treasures, Shannon. SkipBo was her favorite game for so long, we played for hours. She always wanted to give back to us what we had given her but we didn't know what we'd given her over the years. I hope that you enjoy whatever comes your way as it will always remind you of a truly great lady. She truly is the woman I admire most of any I have ever met. She had gentleness but was tough, and she had the most understanding and caring nature. I loved her and I still love her.
