Happy Birthday Shirley

While we were a couple of days late, we were lucky enough to be able to celebrate Shirley's birthday with her. I made a gluten-free chocolate sour cream cake (it was awesome, by the way) and we sang and everything. We gave her butterfly themed gifts (they are her favorite) and we snapped a couple of pictures to remember a fun afternoon and evening.

SO happy you were able to celebrate together. That gluten free chocolate cake is better than the non-gluten. I will only make that recipe from now on. Is it just the flour you replace?

We had a relaxing day today. Did the farmers market and got some veggies. Went to the community centre where they have a wonderful artisan gallery and toured that for a while. Took a picnic and sat on the beach for a few hours, in the shade with a good book. Scouted out the Trans Canada Trail as we plan to ride the trestle and the Lake path on Wednesday as it's supposed to be a little cooler that day. Golfing tomorrow, some beautiful courses here. The clubhouse is supposed to have the best food in town so we may try that...but probably not as we're going to Osoyoos on Tuesday and would rather have lunch at one of the wonderful wineries there. Fabulous area here but not a lot of people. Years ago when we came this way you couldn't get a campsite or hotel to save your soul and now everything is half full. I guess it's been like this all summer.

Changed our plans for Sunshine Valley. No cell phone service there for miles so we cancelled our reservation. We will be here until the 6th and then head to Bridal Falls for three weeks or however long it takes for us to want to move on. Nothing we can't do from Bridal Falls that we couldn't do from Sunshine Valley as there's only about an hour travel time between them. Denis wants to go to Boston Bar and Hell's Gate so we'll do that from Bridal Falls. So much to do...so little time.

Love to all
