The Pox

My baby has the chicken pox. We went to the doctor on Friday and he confirmed that there is no doubt that's what they are. So, he will be off school until probably Tuesday. He can't go back until the spots have crusted over. Did you know that chicken pox are actually contagious until they have crusted over? I always thought that once they showed up they were no longer contagious. That is not the case. Also, baths are not the best thing for chicken pox. Apparently sitting in the water can cause more problems. A warm shower is better. So, some Calamine, Benadryl, some time lying in our bed watching TV and a weekend stuck at home are all on Kaedo's agenda.

The worst part is that his buddy's birthday party was yesterday and they went to Cedar Park and Kaedo couldn't go. He was devastated.

Oh well - what can you do?

Poor Kaeden - BIG HUGS FROM GRAMPA & GRAMMA!! Get better soon. Hope they're not too itchy - try not to scratch them or you may get scars from them. Your Uncle Kelly got chicken pox really bad when he was 3 years old. The little boy I was babysitting had them first and they waited the right amount of time before coming back for me to babysit but Trevor made Kelly mad and Kelly bit him!! Kelly had chicken pox inside his body and out - not very comfortable at all!!! We went through lots of Calamine lotion for him. Sorry you had to miss your friends b'day party Kaeden. Take care - love you lots!!

BIG HUGS TO ALL!

Poor you Kaedo. I had chicken pox really bad when I was your age. DO NOT SCRATCH!! I have some larger type craters in my face and back from them falling off before they were ready. When your mom had it we thought we were doing her a favor and put her in a bath with baking soda because that was recommended at the time. Big mistake. Hope you get better really fast and can get back to doing all your fun things...and school of course. Sorry you missed your friends party.

Emma did a wonderful job at her concert, all three performances. She did a ballet piece, tap and sang. Stage fright is not in her vocabulary. She loved it and sang her heart out, no microphone required. It was an adult song which really made it all the more enjoyable. Three different pieces in three performances is a lot for those little ones but they all did a fantastic job. It was great.

Off to the races today, the chuckwagons are in town doing their circuit before the Stampede. Weather is great for the event, so that's a plus.

Love to all
