valentine's day 2012

We were very lucky to once again have the opportunity to head to Boston Pizza last night for heart shaped pizzas. I know I have said this before but my mom used to take me when I was a kid and so it was very important to pass this tradition on to the boys. We really weren't sure we could swing it this year but a kind text from someone made for the swing vote and we hastily made plans to take the kids out. You know, it's funny the things kids hold on to - this year we had no advent calendar - not a peep from the kids - didn't go out for New Years - not a peep from the kids - no heart shaped pizzas - kids were willing to pay in order to go. Just for the record, we didn't make them pay!

Kaedo and I shared a pepperoni and pineapple and Craig and Sterling shared a pepperoni. It was fun and nice and wonderful and all those things that go along with spending time with your best guys.

Sterling's haircut is pretty snazzy, eh?

You all look so happy to be there enjoying a wonderful tradition. The pizza looks so good too and you know that BP is not a favorite of mine. Hope it tasted as good as it looked.

We spent our day sitting on the beach with a picnic, a good book and lounge chairs. We stayed from noon until after 4 and it was wonderful. We were able to talk to Avery and the boys from there as well. We caught up with Em later in the day. We left the beach and went to the IP Casino and enjoyed our time there also. Valentine's day is really huge here and the hotels were really bustling. The shows were sold out and you couldn't get into a restaurant. We did our Valentine supper on Sunday at the Isle Casino but we enjoyed all the hoopla as we strolled through the casino yesterday.

"On the road again" today and heading for Pass Christian which is less than an hour from here but that much closer to New Orleans, just 75 minutes away. We're toying with the idea of going to the big parade on Tuesday so we're going to do the Pass Christian parade on Saturday to get a feel of what to expect. We could get bleacher seats for Mardi Gras but couldn't get tickets for the tent where the bathrooms are so we didn't buy anything...yet. The ad says that intoxication is overlooked but if you're caught peeing on the street you'll be thrown in jail. I figure if you drink you`ve got to pee so that is definitely an ad that makes me question whether or not we want to attend. The parades we want to see start at 8 a.m. until early afternoon so I guess we`ll decide at the last minute. The night parades would be fine if we didn`t have the drive back afterward with all those drunks on the road. The hotels are totally out of sight price wise and there are no RV parks in New Orleans itself, the closest being Robert, about an hour away. Ironically, we are booked in there next Wednesday for a week, a day too late for the parade but probably a good thing.

Overcast this morning and the weather is supposed to be unsettled for the next few days. It`s not cold but it`s not hot either. Loving this Gulf Coast, wish the waves were bigger though and it was Ocean. Hope everyone`s weather is great.

Love to all

Love your new hair do Sterling! What a handsome young fellow you are and your mom & dad are going to have fun trying to keep all those girls away from you pretty soon.

You all look GREAT! We've never checked our Boston Pizza here to see if they make the heart shaped pizzas or not. It's usually so busy in Boston Pizza that we don't go there very often at all. For our Valentine meal together, we went to the Legion with Larry & Faye and had a roast beef dinner and a warmed up supper. We sat all evening watching our favorite programs together - guess that's as romantic as you get after 43 years of marriage!

We have another beautiful blue sky, sun shining and a little bit colder this morning -10 but we're still fine with this grand winter weather this year.

I'm off to spend time with my sisters this morning and part of the afternoon and then we're meeting friends for coffee. Stan has a dental appt. this afternoon and we'll meet them after. Guess he won't be able to have coffee after having his teeth cleaned but we'll enjoy the visit together.

Hope everyone is having a great day - BIG HUGS TO ALL!
