Flashback Monday

June 15, 2007. My has time flown. The boys look so young here. Sterling with his hippie hair (which I couldn't pay $1000 for him to grow back), and Kaedo with his blondie blondiness. Who would have known that he would have hair to his shoulders now. The longest in the family.

There are so few things that children can control. Their parents are telling them what to do, when to do it, how to do it. Craig and I have always been of the philosophy that their hair is their own. Long, short, pink of green, it's fine with us.

GOOD MORNING! Boy what a difference a few years make for sure - still the best looking grandchildren around.

The sun is shining in the computer room window with beautiful blue sky BUT when we look outside, we have alot more snow around the yard again than when we left here on Friday afternoon. Stan got to use his snowblower again which he hasn't had to use for quite some time.

We've had a busy few days this last week. Wednesday, we drove to Rosetown and met Kelly, Petrica, Jacob and Caleb for lunch at A&W. We then brought Jacob & Caleb back to S.C. with us. The plan was for 3 sleeps as Jacob puts it but things changed with the warning of a big blizzard coming through here Saturday. We decided we had better get on the road Friday to take the boys back. We also had a wedding to go to in Saskatoon on Saturday. We got to P.A. around 6:30, Stan, Kelly & Jacob had a quick supper and went to the Raider game. Petrica, Caleb & I visited & played the evening away. Saturday we went out for our Grainfields breakfast and Stan & I were on the road by 11:30 heading to Saskatoon. The storm had hit S.C. by then and we heard on the radio there was no visibility from Stewart Valley through the landing and there was a car rolled over so we were very glad that we had got going Friday. Swirling snow and snowing down to Saskatoon and it was snowing there as well but at least we made it to all the wedding celebrations. Had a good time visiting with some cousins we hadn't seen for awhile. On the road home by 1:30 Sunday with roads and weather just fine.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well with a cold Shannon - hope it doesn't hang on too long. I think I may be coming down with one as well - sore throat, sneezing started yesterday morning. I'm getting out the Vitamin C and hope it helps.

Nice talking with you last night Craig - hope you have a good week.

Plans for the day include trying to get some buns baked and maybe dragging out the vacuum cleaner - we'll see how the day goes. Have a great day - BIG HUGS TO ALL!

Great photo, the hair is wonderful but hope you're not growing that tongue as long as Gene Simmon's, Sterling. Love the blond Kaedo, suits you and you look so sweet, but then you are so sweet.

Went back to Baton Rouge on Friday and did the historical walking tour, Old Governor's Mansion tour, "Ghost in the Castle" movie at the old Statehouse and of course, Belle the casino. Saturday, we went to New Orleans. Out Of Sight! It is spring break and I bet there are some innocent young things, both male and female, that got a real eye opener. About the only thing you can't do openly in the French Quarter is drink out of a glass bottle. Public drinking from anything else is ok. There were buskers and some not so buskers, but worth the watching. Bourbon Street was opened to traffic but not a car could get through as there were so many of us that we had to walk on the street. We had lunch off the beaten track where we had a real cultural experience. It's where the locals dine(?), with horseshoe shaped counters and stools, just like in the 50s. The napkins were linen, the cutlery re-wiped in front of you and the water kept coming. Great service, great food, great experience. Sunday was a day of rest, which means chores. Today we went back to Baton Rouge and did the River walk and Spanish Town. The Mississippi is a working river with tugs pushing barges back and forth, one could sit and watch all day. It rained as we were leaving and there is a storm warning out for tomorrow. If the weather happens to be good tomorrow, we will visit a couple of plantations along the Mississippi, if not, we'll hit the road and get to our next planned destination, still in Louisiana but closer to Lake Charles, Avery Island and Lafayette. It's warm but we haven't seen the sun all week. When it rains during the day it's just a mist but as soon as it gets dark it really comes down. Hope the forecast is wrong as I'd really love to see a couple of antebellum houses on a plantation.

Hope everyones' colds get better. Neither of us have had any problems so here's hoping it stays that way.

Love to all
