As the Supreme Court in the USA discusses Prop 8 this week, it became a conversation at our house. My sons proudly believe that all people deserve the right to marry whomever they love. They believe that whether you marry the opposite sex or the same sex, you should be given all the rights and more importantly, respect, that every one else receives.
I am so proud of them as their mother, for making this decision on their own, for not following the pack, but leading with their forward thinking (for teenagers) beliefs. I am proud that they are both willing to speak up in defense of others who are not being treated fairly.
My sons are the present and the future, and I know that raising children with open minds and open hearts will make them the best people they can be.
I am proud of them both. Especially today.

So my 7 year old was telling someone that she didn't know if she would marry a boy or a girl. She was told by the other child that girls had to marry boys. Her answer was "No they don't. You marry whoever you love!" This is how I am raising my children and I am very open with everybody who spends time with my children that as long as gay marriage is legal, they are not to say anything that goes against it. Realistically, in our country, to say that gay marriage is wrong is the same as saying drugs or shooting people is right. If we say a legal right is wrong then we are allowing all legal wrongs to be right. As messed up as that reasoning may sound, I'm sticking to it. So proud of my girls and especially my boys who are old enough to realize what it all means. You guys rock.
Every person has the right to decide their own life and what they want to do. Homosexuality is not something that a person chooses, it is a genetic inheritance, I believe. No one would choose a life that was full of prejudice and contempt. Our young people are the ones that will be able and willing to give each and every person the right to be who they are. We are not talking about murder or any other crime, just the right to live one's life as he or she sees fit, as long as no one is hurt in the process. Way to go boys. Proud of you for feeling everyone has a right to their choice of life partner.
