I've recently been told....

...that I'm too overprotective of the boys. Not sure what the difference is between overprotective and TOO overprotective, but I have to admit, I was a little taken aback.

I'll come clean now, and allow all of you to judge -

I don't let them take city transit

I don't let them open the door when we aren't home

I don't let them ride in cars driven by teenagers after dark or on the highway (at any time)

I don't let them see horror movies - or movies with boobs or excessive drugs - however I do take them to see movies of everyone getting shot - that one is screwed up, I know

I don't let them ride their bikes/scooters or toboggan without a helmet

They must carry their phones at all times

I don't let them come home by themselves after volunteering around the corner on Sunday nights

I don't let them swear in the house (I know they do it with their friends, I'm not an idiot)

This picture was taken May 25, 2006 - my how they've grown!

Lol! This is a good one. No one was more over protective than I was, as I look back.

City transit is ok (do you remember when you were a pre-teen and we took the bus in San Francisco but it was the ho/druggie bus. We tried to hide your eyes, but it was enlightening, ergo educational)

Agree on opening the door when you're not home unless they look out the window. If it's the nine year old next door, it's ok.

I agree on the cars. I was a teenager driving my dad's car and boy, do I feel lucky to be alive.

Horror movies are ok provided boobs, sex or excessive drugs aren't shown. Is there such a movie out there?? Watching someone's brains being blown out (as in Pulp Fiction) gross but they have computers so they've seen it all.

We did everything without a helmet, not even car seats in our day. As a helmet saved my life, I can't comment. My no comment is...they must wear helmets.

Phones at all times, absolutely. That was the best thing for us, new at the time, but what an anxiety savior.

I wouldn't let them come home by themselves either on Sunday night. I mean Sterling is so little and Kaeden even littler. In the summer ok, in the winter....it's too cold, that's the reason you pick them up.

Their mouths are way cleaner than yours my dear. I've heard you say things that shocked me...not. It is definitely a do as I say, not as I do scenario on that one. Seriously, they are the children so you should be the only ones allowed to swear in the house, lol.

This was fun, can we do another quiz soon???

Moving day tomorrow. We're pretty sure we're going into the desert. We'll make the decision tomorrow...we'll have to. It's just so peaceful and beautiful there. There has been a lot of rain this year so the flora is amazing. The ocotillos are so green, their red flowers will be abundant. The brittle bush is already in flower. The hummingbirds are ready to attack so our feeder will be much appreciated. Had a great day today on a tour of the Peanut Patch and then a beautiful drive to Ehrenberg on a very back road. The mountains were red in color on the left and blueish-grey on the right. So beautiful. Don't know why the Painted Desert is so advertised, the desert here is just as beautiful. Went to the Casino with friends for a late happy hour. Happy hour is an oxymoron as you don't dare drink and drive anywhere, but especially here.

Hope your weather warms up. Hope our weather warms up.

Love to all

Shannon - I don't think a mother can ever be "TOO OVERPROTECTIVE"! I really can't remember everything I (or we) did when the boys were growing up but I do know that I always thought of things that "could" happen to them and still do when we've looked after grandchildren - it never, never ends.

Love the photo of 2006 and no kidding - how they've grown. Talking to Sterling the other day, he told us his weight, height and his shoe size! Both our guys grew taller than their dad so look out Craig!

Yesterday we had a true Saskatchewan BLIZZARD! Started early and went till 3:30 p.m. or so, then the blue sky and sun came out for about an hour and then clouded over again but snow stopped. There were times we couldn't even see across the street with the wind and snow blowing. Stan got to use his snow blower AGAIN! He's very thankful he bought one for sure.

Stan's off to another Bronco game tonight. Hope they play better than Saturday night when I went but also hoping the ref isn't the same one they had on Saturday night - it was not good.

Hope you all had a great day - BIG HUGS TO ALL!
