Eating in the van before the game - we packed a picnic and ate while waiting for the team to show up

On Monday night we had our first exhibition game. The field was at Trent University, about an hour from home. It was great that we were all off and were able to attend. It poured with rain throughout the afternoon and all the way to the campus and just before they were starting their warm-up the rain let off and we lucked out with an evening of soccer and no rain. As soon as we got going home the rain started again.

Kaedo is one of only 2 or 3 boys who are rookies this year and the coaches have made it known that playing time is based on performance and that at the rep level not everyone will play equally. We were a little concerned when Kaedo was not a starter but Kaedo wasn't concerned as he knew he wasn't going to play at the beginning. About 5 minutes in, he was on the field. We were so thrilled. He was nervous and a little hesitant but we were thrilled for him. The game ended up being 0-0 but was a great first time out.

After the game Kaedo explained that he was very nervous as he wasn't sure what to do with so many kids on the field and the last minute change in positions but after a few minutes, he was feeling good.

It was great to watch him and I took tons of pictures. Be aware that you will see a lot of soccer over the next few months!

Way to go Kaeden!! Jacob and Caleb were looking at your pictures this morning. You look so good in your soccer uniform - we're looking forward to seeing lots of soccer pictures throughout your soccer year!

We're going to a b'day party this morning at 10:00 a.m. It is Ethan Regier's 3rd birthday. This morning isn't as nice as it has been so it's good we're going to a party in the morning. We went mini golfing yesterday and Jacob remembered mini golfing with Sterling & Kaeden last summer. The wind was cool so we had to dress warm and then we had ice cream after the game.

Hope you're all having a great day - BIG HUGS TO ALL!

You look awesome in your uniform Kaedo. I couldn't help noticing the #2, that has been my number ever since I was a little girl in England and my grandad told me I must pick a favorite number for life...that was it. Wow, you really look fantastic.

We are so happy that you felt so confident for your first game. We know you did awesome.

Haircut today, finally and lunch with friends then errands. Having a friend over tonight for a drink and the game but the TV doesn't show what game it is. We hope it's Vancouver. We plan to watch the Royal wedding tomorrow so not much will get done. Saturday we're off to Calgary again. Fun to be busy even if some of it is mundane.

Hope everyones weather improves.

Love to all

You look great out there Kaedo! Being a coach that has applied that rookie rule my only advice is to hang in there and play your hardest in the games and work even harder at practice. Coaches notice the little things and you will be rewarded - I know from experience when I have started rookies over vets because of work ethic. Regardless it will be an amazing experience and your parents wallet will recover as will ours when the time comes - we have been pricing out hockey stuff already and friends have told us that we will far surpass the $500 -1000 credit that the government credits at tax time. Ahh the enjoyment of seeing your kids participate in sports.
