You've gotta hate it when...

...you go to have an oil change done and the merchant will not honor the coupon you have. When you start to question, the manager says, "maybe you should call your husband". To which I reply, "why would I do that?", and get the answer that he seems is fitting, "so that he can make the decision".

If you know me AT ALL, you know this is not the way to my heart. Hell, even my children know this does not make me a happy person. Needless to say, no oil change, AND no call to Craig. Are you frickin' kidding me? That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. "Call your husband". Who even says things like that any more?

If the guy hadn't been sitting behind a desk I would have kicked him in the balls. How's that for calling my husband?

I hear Ya! I know exactly how you felt and good for you for going elsewhere. When we were building our house on Sarcee, I had designed the kitchen and taken it to a business that Dad recommended. I wasn't very impressed with their arrogance but I knew they had a good reputation. The quote was for $21000. and I gave them the go ahead. John Bain, the owner, phoned Dad and asked him if it was ok. Dad told him that he figured he wouldn't get the contract once he told me what had transpired. Needless to say, he didn't and I went to another company. John Bain just could not believe it. I hope he got taught a good lesson that day. Dad was really pissed off that he had called him. Dad knows that the females in his life can make their own decisions without any input from him. It has always been that way and always will. That's because it's less work for him, right???

I can't believe you didn't kick him in the head that was above the desk, Shannon. You weren't thinking!!!

Went to Lake Martinez today for a wonderful lunch overlooking the Colorado River. We then went for a date shake. Dad decided to go back to Yuma off road. Boy, our friends were scared to death, I think, although when we got back to the Q they thought it was the most wonderful adventure. I told them that it was just because they had lived through it. It was too funny, even I doubted that we would see a paved road without making a U turn. Anyway, we got to the Q, had a drink and gambled a little. This is the third day in a row that I have won money, today more than the other two. That should make me even for the season.

We can't believe another week has passed, where does the time go. We have one more restaurant to hit before we leave here on Thursday. Die Hard was great, thanks for the heads up. I didn't need my hearing aid.

Tomorrow we have to visit one market where our insurance company has a booth. Then we have to go to the old market as dad wants to try some food there and listen to the mariachis. We still have to go to Mexico before we leave so I can get a prescription that I have run out of. We also promised that we would buy a table from one of the people there. Roberto is washing, de-oxidizing and waxing the motorhome on Tuesday. We saw him in Quartzsite in January but he's cheaper here in Yuma as this is his base. I hate the thought of leaving here as it's been one big hoot but we're all kind of parting ways on Thursday. There is a big tennis tournament in Indian Wells that some are going to. We didn't have tickets but it's Dad's birthday weekend so I've got some reservations made and we'll see who makes it. Out of 6 couples, only two of us will be in Havasu/Parker area during that week. People always say that Yuma is the place people go to watch the ambulances take another old person to the hospital but it really is an awesome city for Snowbirds. They love the fact that we come here, they thank us daily for our business and we've never seen road rage or rudeness in the whole time we've been here...and trust me, there are a lot of prairie drivers here. We got new shocks put on the motor home and they said it would be $50 a shock. They got it finished in 1-1/2 hours so charged us the hourly rate which came to under $150. They couldn't even make a dollar on the parts as we had to buy them from Ford as they had no access to them. If the Mexican government could ever get their shit together, they would be a powerful nation. Their people work so hard and give such wonderful customer satisfaction. I guess we're biased as we deal mostly with people of Mexican origin....it's our choice and we have never been disappointed with anything that's been done for us.

Our weather isn't cold but not too warm either. Only 23C today and it should be close to 30C. It's been a cold winter so we shouldn't have much acclimatizing to do once we get back to Alberta.

Have a good weekend,

Love to all
