The Countdown has begun

The countdown has officially begun - although you can tell from the calendar that we have been counting down for quite some time. Went to Sears this morning as they had a huge sale and picked up some shorts for Sterling. He only has two pairs from last year that fit him, so he was desperate. We were able to pick up 3 pairs of shorts, 3 pairs of unders, a t-shirt and 8 pairs of socks for $59. Can't beat that.

After that we headed to Price Chopper where we picked up the kids snacks for the week, some hamburger for "Petit Chien Noir (pate chinois)" and some muffin mix and chocolate chips for cookies.

Yesterday I got most of the boy's stuff ready aside from their jeans and unders/socks they will need this week. We got our medicine cabinet dumped and packed our emergency kit. Craig got his basics ready as did I. The list has been started and is on the kitchen counter where it will remain the rest of the week, slowly having items added and crossed off.

The boys made their autograph books last night and were very happy with how they turned out. Took some advise from Jessica and tied pens to them so we are always prepared. Question for those of you who've been to Disney. What do you do with your backpack when you are on the rides? I can't remember. Would love to hear what you have to say. Annette - if you have any tips, please let me know.

Off to watch a movie with the boys, bake some cookies, make some muffins and day dream about Disney. Can't wait!

Autograph books look great!! Hope you get it full of autographs on your trip. It must be so totally hard to concentrate on anything else this coming week. Hope to talk to you later today.

It is a horrible, horrible, horrible day here today. It started on Friday night with freezing rain and then it turned into snow and has not stopped since!! Stan has been out shovelling twice yesterday and it's snowing even more today, he said he's not shovelling until it stops - hopefully tomorrow. We went to the Bronco hockey game last night and the power went out just after the second period and stayed out until they sent everyone out of the building because the emergency lights were going to be going out. We got all the way home and Linda called from Beverly to say that the 3rd period was back on!!! We were barely in the house with our jackets off, but got them back on and out the door to watch the Broncos lose 5-2! It was a good game 3-2 after 2nd period but I guess the rest inbetween was not good. Our plans for today were to just stay indoors but at 8:15 a.m. Robert called to see if Stan would come over to pick them up to take them to church. Stan drove over with the truck and got them to church and we figured seeing as he would have to go back to get them after church, we might as well go ourselves. Fitting us 4 big people in the cab of the truck was hilarious! We didn't get stuck! Got home around 1:45 p.m., locked the garage and do not plan on going out again. Hope this horrible weather doesn't make it down east. It's pretty far spread - on the weather channel it shows from Calgary to Regina driving is not advised. We're waiting to hear from Jim & Roberta. They took their whole family to Elkwater for their Christmas present. They left on Friday and are supposed to be back today - hopefully they listen to the road conditions and wait till tomorrow.

Hope you're feeling better Shannon and keep healthy!

BIG HUGS TO ALL!

Love the autograph albums!!! They look super! I'm sure they'll be even happier with the homemade albums than a store bought one when all is said and done...I know I am! One tip, tying a pen to the album is excellent as then it's ready, but fat sharpies are better. The characters seemed to have troubling gripping the pens that others used and could handle the sharpie that we used it seemed a lot better.... They spent a bit of time drawing pics in my album where they didn't seem very at ease even signing with pens of the people in front of us.
We definitely toted around a backpack EVERYWHERE! I thought it would be a problem for rides too but Disney is prepared for absolutely everything it seems! I would just take it off and set it between my legs. Some rides had backpack specific areas like Soarin'(under seat) or Kali River Rapids (centre of ride vessel) but most you just left out. Space Mountain was a bit tight but it still fit, just smooshed. For water rides we never got nearly as wet as we had anticipated (or hoped) so our bag never had more than a couple drops on it.
Hopefully it's not too crowded for you! It was quite cool (for native Floridians) when we went so it was quite quiet and not especially busy which was great as we could almost walk on any ride....but man did everyone whine about the cold! It was about +25-27 and we had on shorts and t-shirts while they were breaking out the sweaters! lol! You'll have tons of fun...make sure to post lots of pics!
If I think of any other tips I'll send a comment your way.
