Trail Blazers

Well the summer is half over and I have really been lacking in my famous bike rides. Kaeden mentioned to Shannon on Friday that he was hoping I would take them on a bike ride this past weekend. Since he hasn't really mentioned bike riding since our last outing when he slid down an embankment and landed in a stream with his bike on top of him a few weeks ago I figured I better take him up on it. For our first big ride of the year I thought I would take them on some trails that I experienced a while back with Michael at a place called Long Sault Conservation Area. The kids were very excited to go and the trail didn't disappoint. It was a little more climbing than they were used to and extremely exhausting (them, not me) but they endured. Part way in Sterling wanted to come back every weekend, by the end he did think he would be able to last more than every three weeks. He admits he is a little out of shape but did quite well. Kaeden always keeps up, BMX bike and all but even he complained his legs were a little sore. Only 10 kms but they couldn't have done any more. Sterling even fell asleep on the way home, actually as soon as we left the parking lot.

Here are some photos from the ride.

There was alot of this done.

Thankfully some of this as well.

The smiles say 'Thank God we survived'

Your dad's losing ground already boys. When he has to explain who was tired and who wasn't, you know he's on his way out. Keep it up, pretty soon he'll be begging for mercy. We thought of you so many times this winter when we did the bike trails in the state parks. There were some awesome ones. In some parks, that was their claim to fame.

Love to all

Auntie Laura and her husband were here for supper last night and came to Jessica's for supper tonight. They are going to be in Arizona this winter so I'm sure we'll see them again. Emma just loved Dan but I'm not sure that he knew what to do with her. We had a wonderful meal, as usual. They are leaving for Montana tomorrow and heading to their home in Washington. They also have a home in Chilliwack that we must visit one day. It has been a wonderful two nights visiting with them. We envy the fact that they're travelling but they don't take the long trips we do...yet!

Love to all
