Gramma

As many of you know, my gramma passed away on Thursday night. She was 101 years old. She had lived a very full life, one of tragedy and triumphant and was an amazing woman right to the end. She loved her family so much and was so proud of us. She loved completely and fully. She was quick with a comment, and was happy with the smallest thing. She was virtually deaf and blind but didn't let that stop her. She figured out how to get around, how to manage, and amazed me in the process. The last year or so found her wheelchair bound but she took that in stride too. She was loved by the people who cared for her and tears were shed on the night of her death.
Her strength of will was evident even in the last days of her life. She wanted so badly to join her departed family and son and the Lord and she made the decision herself that this was the end. I was amazed at her strength.
I was blessed to spend the last three days of her life her and was present at her death. When she took her last breath I was holding her hand, telling her I love her. It is a moment in time I will never forget.

She was a truly great lady. She taught us all many lessons and was so discreet. You could tell her anything and she would never pass it on. She had many struggles in life but she had the attitude that if you have lemons, make lemonade. Her memorial service will take hours because all of us have such wild and wonderful memories of her. She was a huge influence on both yours and Jessica's lives, even if she did take you around Waterton in the car when she was considered legally blind. The stories there are to tell and they are all positive and funny as she didn't have a mean bone in her body. When she was 99 she told me that she wanted to live until she was 100 and be the same weight she was at 18. She got her wish.

You have posted a lovely blog in her memory Shannon. We have shed tears once again. Thank you again for all you have done and once again Craig, thank you for being such a rock. You have no idea how lucky we feel to have you as our son. Thank you Sterling and Kaeden for helping Mom and Dad with the final cleanup. You are an amazing family.

Love to all

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of your family at this time. Your gramma was a very lucky lady to have such a wonderful granddaughter with her till the end Shannon and yes it is a moment I'm sure will never forget. We always thought of her as a wonderful lady the few times we were together. She always remembered to ask how our family was doing and also remembered our names when we visited. She was a beautiful woman and will be missed dearly - BIG HUGS TO ALL!
