Blackmail

Friday night is movie night at our house. We rent a video, eat snacks and spend the evening together. Tonight is no different. However, being as our guys are getting older and their friends are becoming more important we run a fine line between Craig and I still wanting to watch a movie and waiting for the boys to finish hanging out with their friends. Last night at supper we were talking about what we would watch tonight and at the same time Kaedo's friend called to ask if he could hang out ofter school. Craig and I readily agreed but reminded Kaedo that it was movie night and due to our soccer schedule on Saturday morning and my work schedule Saturday night we would not be able to hold off watching the movie until 9pm. Kaedo quickly decided he didn't want to go to the hockey arena and watch his friend's brother and asked if we could pick him up at 7pm so he didn't miss the movie.
Many of you might be thinking we are bad parents for making him choose but the way I see it we have very little time left where these traditions will still be important to the boys, so while I still have the chance to sit down with them and enjoy a family evening, I'm going to take it.
Besides, who wants to spend an hour in a smelly arena watching an 8 year old play hockey? At least that's how I'm justifying it.

Still can't get the damn pictures to load but will try again later.

Have a fun evening together as a family and you're so right - all too soon they are gone with their friends and you wonder where did those fun family nights go!!

We still have lots of snow and the wind today was very, very cold. Not Spring yet!!

Have a great weekend and hope to catch you on our Sunday visit! Love you lots - BIG HUGS TO ALL!

Another beautiful day but they are fast coming to a close. Only another week before we start heading north. It has been a great winter, just what retirement should be: fun, no time restraints, and no having to explain ones actions to anyone. Our new and old friends have surprisingly good voices at kareoke, our new friends enjoy happy hour as much as we and our old friends do, and we all enjoy forays into the desert to see what, if anything, jumps out at us. It's kind of a sad time also as you never know if you'll see some of these new and dear friends again. The old friends will all be back in Canada within a month or so freezing their butts off also. We've left a month so that we can head east this summer and go through the States for the better highways and cheaper fuel provided Denis's shoulder gets fixed in time. This may be the last year the US government allows us to travel for more than three months without coming home for 31 days. Hope that doesn't happen but it probably will so we have to plan for it. No skin off their nose but it will make those of us who enjoy the warm weather have to choose another place to winter.

Love to all
