Day 28 - What A Day!

Everyone who visits here knows how passionate Kaedo is about food and making food. In the next community from us, there is a high school that offers a High Skills Major Culinary Arts/Hospitality program.
This school is out of our jurisdiction, however after some prompting by my aunt and some discussions with Craig, we decided to see what it would entail to possibly get Kaedo into the school.

After learning that I would have to fill out an Out-Of-Boundaries Form and getting some excellent advice from a friend, I went to the school, filled out the form and took a leap of faith. Everyone had told me how hard it was to get into the school. Once that was done, I called the principal and requested a face-to-face meeting so I could rave about this amazing child. I was told I would only have one shot in front of him, so I better make it good.

Kaedo knew nothing about this. Craig and I decided to keep it between us until we knew the outcome (which we learned today was to be Friday or so). This morning at 10am we met with the principal. I was so glad that Craig was working from home today - a united front is a good indicator of the family, I think.

I had a whole page of qualities I wanted to cover about Kaedo (honestly, a whole page - which I left with the principal so it was staring at him while he made his decision), from him growing his hair for donation to his almost 80 hours of volunteering. We even took a bunch of pictures that Craig had loaded on to his playbook, showing his haircut for charity and some of the meals he has done. We spoke about his love of cooking, his cooking lessons, his aspirations, everything. The principal said he would speak with Kaedo's current school and they would get back to us by the end of the week, either way.

I imagine you know what happened, but I've put the video here so you can see for yourself. If you can't tell, he was so shocked he burst into tears, then dear old mom did.

I got a call at 1:30pm this afternoon advising me he had been accepted.
Today has been a very good AMAZING day!

If you have time, those of you who text him, I'm sure he'd love to here from you.
Sadly he never reads the blog or the comments. lol

Day 27

Went with the fam to the gym tonight. Kaedo decided to do Aquafit with me. I was thrilled but wondered why he would do such an "old lady" class (which it's not) with me. When I asked him he said, "Because I just like being with you mom". Man, I really heart that kid!

It's 9pm and has been a long day so that's all you get. Does it count as one of my days???

More tomorrow.

Day 26 - Hijacked by Sterling

So happy to have my boy hijacking the blog today -

Had a great day today - let me tell you how it was:
Woke up at 6:50am and had an English muffin with jam getting ready for the day. Made my lunch and walked to the bus stop (yay bus pass!). Got to school and talked to my friends for 10 minutes when the bell rang I went down to gym class, where I had a test on drugs and alcohol (I was not ON drugs - at least not illegal ones - that's what the test was about). Super happy I had a test and didn't have to go outside and run around like a loser.

After that I went to my second period class only to have to write a page and a half long note (not complaining). At the end of class we watched Avatar as it relates to both History and Geography. History because it is like when the Europeans came and colonized the first nations. Geography because of how diverse the ecology is in the different areas in the movie.

After that went down to tech room only to find out the teacher is gone til Thursday. Sad Face. So I went to the complex to have lunch with my friends. At 11:27am we walked back to school to go to third period.

Went back to tech room for third period to meet my supply teacher, then went down to room 138 (computer room) only to do a test on computers from the 90's (yay (sarcastic). After i finished the easiest test ever I played around in Photoshop.

Fourth period finally. When I went down to fourth period I was hoping to do work but instead we had a supply teacher and we watched Back To The Future 2 (Good Movie).

Finally I walked down to the bus stop (yay bus pass!) and came home to be greeted by my awesome mom <3 .="" p="">

Day 25

Day 25 and Week 35. Both amaze me. The boys are once again in the Man-cave. Today with a different friend. Boy is it quiet in here. AND freezing. It is so cold in this house but Craig keeps turning the heat off. He's not going to like it too much tonight when I put my cold feet on his backside just as he falls asleep. TMI?

A full week this week. I am going to a mass tomorrow night that is being said for my great-uncle that passed away recently. He was a Catholic priest and my aunt is having it said in his honor. Kaedo is back to school after almost a week off, Sterling is getting his courses winding down and Craig will be busy as always. I'll be attending Aquafit 3 times as well as Weight.Watchers and we will go as a family at least three times to the gym. Kaedo has agreed to do Aquafit with me so I am thrilled. Friday I have an MRI scheduled and I have to take out my nose stud - yikes! - I really don't want to do that! The kids have Teen Night on Friday should they choose to go and the weekend we are hoping to getting into the theater and see a movie (or two if I have my way!).

This every day posting is still going strong and I have some ideas for the week and some pictures I have taken already. It's better with pictures, isn't it????

Have a great rest of your Sunday and I'll be talking to you tomorrow.

Day 24 - The Man-cave

The boys have been begging to turn the office into a Man-cave, ever since I quit working at home. Well, we finally caved and gave them the go-ahead. Who knew something so small would bring so much happiness, not to mention peace to the rest of the house - haha. They moved all the furniture around (I don't want to know what they did with all the stuff on my desk), brought up the jumbo TV from the basement and have spent the day in there with a friend playing games on their computers, watching nothing but Storage.Wars, Undercover.Boss, and South.Beach.Towing. If it means I don't have to sit through that I'm happy to give them the space.

I was informed that it is for 'men' only, and I was not to enter (hence the sign). That went over like a lead balloon. I do have to admit that after getting my pictures I was happy to take my leave as farts and smelly feet in an enclosed space make me gag.

Day 23 - Dear Kelly

Dear Kelly,

While I don't often hear from you, your comment to yesterday's blog post made me laugh so much I had to reply. I do recall your one and only tattoo. I remember us taking you and if I am not mistaken, you swore you would never get another. Funny how things change, isn't it? I remember that being a great day.

Ambigram tattoos are great. Craig and I each have one, although mine is not near as manly as the one Craig has down his forearm - which I love!. While I like mine, it is certainly not my favorite. I think that getting ambigrams with J and C's names would be awesome. If you're thinking of each other, sorry, can't help there as we will never do that!

As for me, I am coveting a bouquet of flowers on the top of my shoulder - nothing too risquee - haha. Craig has a dragon and penny idea he is ruminating on. Not sure if he means the coin or Penny from Big.Bang.Theory. I might like the idea more if it's the girl. Can't you see Craig with a pin-up on his bicep? Not sure where the dragon would come in, and to be honest I don't want to know.

This will be the first time that we don't get 'matching' tattoos and it's kind of weird. I tried to convince him but he is completely opposed to getting flowers. Weird. I thought I would get the boy's birth flowers but once I learned they were roses and chrysanthemums I vetoed that idea. Now working on a mix of others.

All I can tell you is NEVER go somewhere you can be a walk-in (trust us). Research your artist. GENERALLY the longer you have to wait, or the more you have to spend, the better the artist. If he/she is drinking Redbull and smoking cigarettes at 9am, you might want to check and see how shaky they are. Lastly - LOVE  what you get.

Good luck - can't wait to see what you guys come up with. Oh, and if our guys are any indication, if you can find a really creepy parlour that's playing JackAss over and over, the kids will beg to come with you.  True story!

Love Ya,
S

Day 22 - A Tattoo

Yes, I know, most of you who visit here hate tattoos. Save your comments, I've heard them before. ;)
HOWever, Craig and I love them. We haven't gotten any in a few years but we are starting to circle around the idea once again. Few problems, of course:
1. Craig hates where I want to get mine
2. I can't stand Craig's idea for his
3. Yikes, are they costly
4. It's the first time since having the boys that we haven't gotten matching/similar tattoos about the boys - that is very weird for us

We have never gotten tattoos that are about each other, nor will we, but we have always been inked with something pertaining to our guys.

I wonder if that is what is stopping us?

One thing I do know is that Jessica promised if I got to my goal weight, she would get the girl's names tattoo'ed on her wrists. If there was ever a good incentive that will be it. I'm holding her to it!
