Day 21 - Currently...

Currently...

Enjoying these three days I have my baby home with me and all to myself
Loving the weather
Excited at having gotten the front entry cleaned and dumped of all the shoes
Loving the book Sterling gave me for Mother's Day
Mourning the almost end of tulip season. May have to buy myself one more bunch...
Loving that my creative juices are returning and a brilliant project idea came to me today
Shocked that Kaedo will be 14 in just over a month and be graduating from elementary school the same day
At peace about being at home and enjoying this opportunity
Semi-nervous about MRI next week - maybe there really is no brain in there ;)
Hoping to have a movie marathon weekend Chris.Pine and The.Rock - need I say more?
Wishing for all white walls - and since I am a terrible painter I am at Craig's mercy. Which means no white walls. boo
Drinking everything with ice and loving it

Thinking of everyone who reads and thanking you for coming back every day!

Day 20 - what to say

Well, it is 9:43pm and I have been sitting here for about 15 minutes trying to think of what to write.
I have been looking at my list of blog topics and thought I would attack this one - short and sweet:

What are my three worse traits:

1. I think I can do Craig's job better than he can. Not really - he does an awesome job. Sometimes I just think he's too nice and I let him have it with what he should be saying. I sometimes think I can see into his mind where he is telling me to f**k off and let him do his job. lol

2. I am FAT. Obese really, and will still look for any reason to eat. Worse than that, I will convince those around me that they want food too. How horrible is that?

3. I cannot let things go. Usually. Craig and Sterling may say most of the time, but I think I'm only like this when I am passionate about something. You should be passionate, right????

OK - that's enough dirty laundry.

I'll come up with something better for tomorrow. Promise!

Day 19 - Does it Count?

Yesterday evening Craig asked me if the gnome picture had been taken and I realized that it hadn't and I had already posted for the day. The boys and I quickly remedied that situation and I decided to post today. I figure it's a long weekend, right? So today counts. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

The boys are rockin' the AE $5 sunglasses and loving them. Their bright blue eyes do much better with sunglasses on. Love those blue eyes. They get them from their dad.

Funny story - when we were at the gym yesterday, Craig and I were waiting for the boys to finish their ping-pong game and a woman sitting next to us looked up and said, "you'll never have to guess who they belong to". She said Kaedo was the spitting image of his dad and Sterling definitely follows my line. Craig and I had to laugh as we have often talked about how we are built, as in body structure, and which sides of the families we follow, but never facial features. I guess we can't get rid of them now.

Day 18 - What a Laugh!

Happy Sunday to anyone who is checking in here today. 18 days - not too shabby, eh?
Great day today with my guys. We got up early-ish and headed to the Y for our gym orientation and a workout. We got there at 10:15am and left about noon. It was great. Craig and I are entitled to 8 - 30 minutes personal training sessions, so we got the first of those set up for next week. The boys also enjoyed their workout and finished up with a game of ping-pong. It is a wonderful facility and it has much to offer, so I know it will be a great family activity for us. I am contemplating heading out tomorrow for the 8:15am Aquafit as I write this. That seems much earlier on the weekend. I know the guys may want to head over there tomorrow so we'll see.

After our workout we headed to Canadian.Tire and then Cost.co before heading home. Once home we got the solar lights out and put in the garden, our gnomes back out and Kaedo and L spent a few hours playing together.

Sterling got this hilarious app on his phone which is like an electronic charades and the above pictures are of us playing. You put the phone to your forehead and the word/name shows up for everyone else to see. Everyone yells out hints. If you get it right, you lean forward, if you want to pass, you tip it back. Can I just say I kicked ass in the celebrity category. Seriously, no one could beat me. It is really my only talent. lol. It was so fun. We played a whole bunch of rounds and laughed our heads off.

No idea what is on the agenda tonight. I imagine there is hockey on, but Craig is pretty good about wanting to do family stuff at night instead of watching the game. I love that.

Holiday tomorrow, and in our neck of the woods every damn thing is closed. Totally sucks, but what can you do? I hear Star.Trek is good.  hmmmm

Happy Sunday all. 'Talk' to you tomorrow.

Day 17 - Our Day

Beautiful day here today. Not that I've been outside. In fact I am still in my pajamas. And I don't mean, have put my pjs back on - I mean I haven't gotten out of them! Yikes. I had the chance to talk to my mom this morning. For 90 minutes - yay me!. I then proceeded to sit at my kitchen table, until about 7:10pm and read THE BEST BOOK EVER!! I loved it. I couldn't stop reading. Wonderful. Craig headed out to football about noon and I've been listening to fireworks go off throughout the day. I don't know how dense you have to be to shoot fireworks in the daytime - uh hello? what's there to see? - but we will listen to them go off at all hours over the next three days.

Caught this picture of Sterling reading on my playbook this aft. Wasn't sure it was him as it was a teenage boy and he was reading. Then he told me he was reading the 'Zombie Survival Guide' and that
answered all my questions.

As you can see, Kaedo had a wonderful day. In fact he is still out there playing in the water with L. Between water balloons, hoses, water guns and sprinkler, it has been awesome. First water pix of the year.

And finally, he invited L in for a drink and just so they would know whose glass is whose, he used a milk bag closure. Very classy. And quite brilliant actually. That's the way he rolls.

Tonight, if we can get Kaedo to come in, we will sit down and watch some of our taped shows. We have a lot to choose from. I know which one I'm voting for!

Have a great rest of your Saturday!

Day 16 - Something I Miss

I miss this. One of the best gifts the boys ever got. It got used so much we had to replace the tires! They are so young in these photos. 3 and 4 maybe? I miss them, like this. No computers, iPods, cellphones, just playing on the street, in the park, doing donuts, laughing and having fun. With Sterling starting the process of getting his license this Fall (yuck), these photos bring up great memories. I wish I could just tell him to "get in the damn Jeep and forget about driving our car!"

Day 15 - A story from my childhood

My dad is a wonderful man.  A truly patient man, with a wife and two daughters to run him ragged.  Because of this he really did get the bad end of the deal sometimes. I remember two instances which shaped my young life, much to my father’s dismay as he was on the receiving end of my bad behaviour.  To boot, my mom wasn’t much help in these situations.

On this particular occasion my dad was in bed sick in the middle of the afternoon. My sister and I were bored, having been asked to be quiet. There was a long hall from the front of the house to my mom and dad’s room and we decided why not each take one of dad’s slippers and slide up and down the hall. Do you see where this is going? After numerous trips, we softly opened the door to their room, quietly made our way to dad’s side of the bed and in perfect synchronicity tapped him on the nose. The spark was legendary, the permanent stoppage of his watch family lore, and his yell could be heard all the way down the street. When my mom ran down the hall to see what had happened, she found us cowering (to be honest, probably pretending to cower) while my dad swore with words I had never heard before. My mom confirmed that in fact, my dad was not having a heart attack, shooed us out the door and to this day, I swear she winked at us.

Sorry dad!
