So apparently....

...replacing your furnace and air conditioning may give you a coronary. We had a consult tonight to get a quote for the replacement - we were told last year that our furnace wouldn't make it through another winter - and all I can say is OMFG!

It will literally (right use of the word literally, E) cost more than I will make this year.

I have a slight but noticeable twitch in my eye and an ulcer coming on. Furnacitis?

That is the blessing of home ownership. They say it's cheaper to rent and they are so right. Once you take in all the maintenance and property taxes over a 30 year period, you really are at the losing end of the stick when it's time to sell. Once upon a time you could say that at least you lived rent free as a home owner but it's not quite the same anymore. I know Canadians are programmed toward home ownership and it is a fulfilling desire but not an economic plus. Those of us that have lived the RV lifestyle for a number of years and are contemplating a more permanent situation are having many thoughts about the route to go. Oh well, what will be will be and I sometimes think that we are not the masters of our destiny. We still have a number of years left to figure it out so hopefully, a light will come on. If it does, the electric bill won't be far behind.

Love to all

People could totally relate to your predicament. Although I'd recommend not to even attempt fixing the AC by yourself, unless you absolutely know what you're doing. Getting your AC fixed is a priority, and I hope you found a guy who can do it for you. Good luck!

It’s good that you replaced your furnace after that warning, Shannon. It’s okay to spend a bit for the replacement, than to suffer the consequences if it broke during winter. I hope you stayed cozy while the temperature dropped outside. Cheers!
