Day 14

Maybe I can do this... 14 days in a row! Must give Craig credit for Birth-Mother's Day. Thanks Craig!

Today's prompt is 10 things I love - so here goes!

1. Everyone lying in our bed watching TV even though we have a perfectly good TV AND furniture downstairs.

2. Tulips - I just LOVE them! Why oh why can't they last just a little longer. I am dying to go out at 3 in the morning and step into my neighbor's yards and clip their tulips so I can fill every vase, bottle and mason jar I have.

3. Big.Bang.Theory - this show makes me laugh even when I don't think I can. Sheer brilliance.

4. Nora.Roberts books. Can't get enough of them and now that I have read ALL 200+ she has written, I mark the calendar with her new releases!

5. Daily BBMs with my mom - often more than one.  Starts my day right.

6. Ketchup - he`s such a cute dog. I am sure he understands everything and really just wants to be with us.  He rocks!

7. The wonders of cell phones. While I do not use mine like the boys and Craig do, and I never put it on volume, I love that I am able to access my guys at any time. *Peace Of Mind*

8. The opportunity to be a Stay at Home Mom, even if just for a little while. This works for us, works for the boys, me, Craig.

9. Twitter - Haha! I just LOVE it! Totally hooked. I can`t explain it, but I really love it!

10. My boys - there is nothing in the Universe I love more than them.

Day 12 - A Recap!

What a day! It was so awesome! I really couldn't have asked for anything more. We got up in the morning and I decided we would start the day with celebrating my birthday as I had birthdays before I was a mom. I had curlers in my hair so no pictures! I was so blessed with wonderful gifts - a great new camera from my 3 best guys, a Coach watch from mom and dad and Jessica and the girls (I loooovvvee it!), a terrific cheque from Stan and Shirley for my hammock fund (YAY!) and beautiful jewellery from Kelly, Tica and the boys which I promptly put on and wore all day. Even Craig who never notices that stuff said, "that looks really nice, it suits you". So, thank you to everyone. Awesome.

When talking about getting a new camera I had mentioned that I wanted a "pocket camera" that I could keep with me all the time. Here's proof that my wish was granted, as I took this photo at the theater!

We headed out for the 12:00 showing of IronMan 3 and man it was awesome! The theater was full (boo) but there was so much action that people were quiet (yay!). After that we headed out for pizza - a definite family favorite. All these pictures were taken with my new camera!

I think this may very well be my new favorite picture. Too bad Kaedo isn' in it but Sterling and Craig both look gorgeous. Love Sterling's `smile`!

Me and my guys (check out the jewellery)

The boys and I with some fun poses! Love Kaedo's `Zoolander` look.

Back home to celebrate Mother's Day and eat Kaedo`s chocolate cake.
Two books that I really wanted to read from Craig and Sterling.

Lastly, beautiful tulips from my baby. My favorite.
What a great day of celebrating, laughing, being together. We spoke with our families and thanked our mom`s for being so great and I had some wonderful serenades. Thanks everyone who made my day so special.

OK - on another note - weekly gnome picture - here it is!

And last but certainly not least, a very Happy Birthday to our cutie nephew Jacob who turned 7 today!
We'll call you tonight and we love you very much.

Happy Mother's Day and a very Happy Birthday!!!

I know Shannon is doing a month of posts every day so I hope my hijacking the blog won't mess that up. I wanted to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the mother's out there, especially my lovely wife, as well as the other amazing mothers in my life, my mom, mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law, you truly make the world a better place.

Here is a picture from Mother's Day in 2004 from the archives since Shannon won't let me take or post any new ones.

On another important note, it is also my beautiful wife's birthday today.  I know she'll be the first to tell you that it sucks to have her birthday on Mother's Day but we will do our best to celebrate them both as distinct events.  Hopefully she will let me post some pictures of her blowing out the candles.  If not, you might just get a few shots of the cake Kaedo made.  Either way I'm sure it will be a very special day.

Day 10 - a most embarrassing moment

God, I hate this one. Truly my most embarrassing. Many years ago when I lived in Calgary, I was working at the store I managed, closing it down for the evening. A very good friend of mine was having a baby and had just called to to tell me she was having a girl. Now at the time, I thought nothing of it, the two women working with me were busy doing their clean up chores and we were having a fun chat. When I got off the phone and told my co-workers that my friend was having a girl, they immediately asked if she knew what she was going to name her. I remember vividly turning to my young co-worker asking if she had any sisters (as I didn't want to offend her since I couldn't stand the name). She said "no", and I went on to say that they were going to name her Meghan. Well, the world stopped spinning their for just a minute as I realized, shit - that was her name! There really is no way to fix a situation like that. I apologized, and the next week she quit. I kid you not.

Even over 10 years later, my face is still red writing this.

Day 9 - a moment in your day

June 28, 2006

Of course you all know, my mom and I live FAR away from each other, so I have to use this picture to talk about my moment in my day. Actually it was 1 hour and 57 moments minutes. I had the chance to talk to my mom this morning and it was so great. I talk to her every week and we BBM every day, but it was just such a nice call. Lots of laughter and the knowledge that we both cherish this "moment" in our day. I can always depend on my mom to give me "the straight goods" and today was no different. I appreciate my mom and respect her all the more for saying it like it is. I know to the bottom of my soul that my mom always has my back and that she will always stand beside me. What I 'appreciate', which is very different from 'know', is that my mom is willing to take the chance that my feelings may be hurt, in order to do what she knows is right. Amazingly enough - because I have thought about this not only with my head, but my heart - I am never hurt by my mom. In fact, I appreciate, cherish and respect her more for what she does for me.

So Mom, you were my "moment" today. And it was the best. Thanks for being you. I love that.

Day 8

So tired today. Such a terrible sleep followed by a crappy day. I know we all have them, but they suck, don't they? I am looking at my house and the little piles of detritus everywhere that I wish I could blame on the boys but must blame myself as well. Thinking of the missed opportunity to have everyone fend for themselves for supper but we have a guest. We will have to talk about our days and trust me, mine is not for company.

Looking outside at the blue sky and hoping we can afford the hammock I so desperately want. Will make it happen. Maybe. Listening to my dog as he growls low in his throat wondering what all these noises are with the windows wide open. Birds chirping, bugs buzzing, cars, kids and motorcycles. Not to mention giggles from badminton games being played in the backyard.

Today's prompt is a piece of advice you have for others - mine is simple: write more letters. I'm not talking email or text or even blogs - I'm talking about spending your coffee money and buying a card. Or buying some nice stationery. Write a note, send it to some one you love telling them how important they are to you. Send them to your nieces and nephews so they know you are thinking of them and have taken time to write to them. In printing - so those new readers can read what you've written. Send thank you cards for an evening spent at friends. Last bust not least - have everyone sign. I love that.

Wishing I could write full time. I have learned it is probably the "thing" that brings me the most happiness. That and bossing the kids around.

Talk to you tomorrow!
