On the Road Again

And away they go - off to Florida and other parts unknown. Hoping to beat the snow and all crummy weather and continue to wear shorts and Birkenstocks for another 6 months. Mom and dad left on their latest adventure yesterday morning, and plan to take the next two weeks to get to Florida where they will spend the winter visiting the state. Bon Voyage!

Have a sick one home with me today. He just got up at 10am. He's having some breakfast right now then will probably return to bed or go lie downstairs. Poor kid. It's not too often that they get sick, but when they do they just need to be pampered a bit.

Read this quote from Michael J. Fox I thought was funny, so I thought I would pass it on to you:
On Marriage:
"Just remember this - if a man says something in the forest and his wife isn't there to hear him, he is still wrong".

hmmm

Thanks for the good wishes. We arrived in Billings, Mt. on Sunday night and got to Spearfish, S.D. on Monday afternoon. We just had to stop here as Deadwood (which is 13 miles uphill in 10 ft. of snow) has a restaurant with the best prime rib. We parked in Spearfish and took the car to Deadwood. We had originally taken the motorhome to Deadwood but it is a little big for any parking there and the campsite we stayed at last time was still unter 3 ft. of snow from the storm they'd had a couple of weeks ago. So back to Spearfish we came with the mh and just went back by car. South Dakota is definitely the place where "the deer and the antelope play". However, they play way too close to the I-90, so dead bodies are everywhere. Sometimes there are no bodies left. Getting hit by a semi at 75 mph just leaves blood and guts on the road, and lots of it. We had to swerve around a dead one on the exit ramp and it hadn't been there the last time we used the ramp an hour before. We left Spearfish this morning and are now parked for the night in Sioux City, Iowa. The weather is nice but cool, the roads are bare and dry and the gas is $1.76 a gallon. We have travelled some amazing roads, went through the North Cheyenne reservation yesterday. They had a casino that looked like an arbor and there was no parking lot but there were vehicles parked everywhere. We had to wend our way around the traffic parked on the highway. Dad (yeh, right) was looking for somewhere to pull over but it would have been in a ditch and it would have been difficult to get the MH out afterward. It looked so awesome and there were loads of people there. Not liking casinos too much (choke, choke) I would have gladly hired a tow truck just for the chance to go in and see what it was all about. We will be in Branson tomorrow night if all goes well as it has so far. We are staying three nights and thanks to Stan & Shirley we have a couple of shows picked out and also will do the Xmas lights. The price of fuel certainly makes up for the sub-par Cdn dollar, so I guess you can't complain because you can never have it all. Jessica has been awesome with her directions and weather reports even to a point of letting us know when we'll hit windy conditions, she was right on. We worry about the northern weather but I think we'll have more severe weather the farther south we go. Lots of late season storms still happening. Glad we came to Florida this year, people say it may not survive the hurricanes for another year. I;d hate it to sink before I saw it.

Love to all
