Adventures in Bread Making

For Christmas, I got a fan-freakin'-tastic bread machine from  J and the girlies.  Can I just shout "Thank You 1 million times over"? I love it. LOVE IT!

I use it tons - about 4 times a week, and make everything from bread to buns, to pizza dough. We've had hilarious homestyle bread (see below), to pizza on Fridays (yum!!), to cinnamon buns, to the onion buns I made for our chicken sandwiches last night.

I love scouring the recipe sites looking for something good to make. Craig has been asking why I haven't made Ciabattas yet. They are our personal favorite. I must admit that my bun making ability is a bit poor right now. My buns look a little like what a 3 year old would make out of play-doh. No one complains though. I can say with all certainty though that I make the best damn french bread north of the 401 (lol). The secret is brown sugar. Just so you know.

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of some of my bread making forays - a fail and a pass.

The bread was great but you had to cut each slice into 3 to fit it in the toaster! lol

Totally delish! A Friday night staple. We are a pizza family so this hits the spot on Fridays.

It's 5:03am and chicken is already cooking for tonight's supper.
Chicken Tetrazzini, Craig's current favorite meal. Hopefully this one will be as good as the last.
Now if only I could find some good bread to go with it .....

YUMMY, YUMMY, YUMMY!! Looks like you are TOTALLY enjoying your new bread machine and for sure no one would complain about homemade buns no matter how they look. Nothing tastes better than a fresh bun out of the oven with butter on. Mom used to bake homemade buns and we'd come home after school and of course invite friends along as well, and we would eat a couple before our supper! Really don't know how mom did it but we loved her homemade buns and homemade donuts. Roberta has learned the technique of the homemade donuts so we get them once in awhile when she decides to make them - usually when Joyce or Jim are home:)
Your supper sounds very yummy and I bet Craig can hardly wait to get home to have his favorite meal. We went for our Tuesday Legion dinner which was pork roast with all the trimmings so not much for supper.
Just got home from washing our car which needed it very, very badly. When we got home, I got a pail with sudsy water and cleaned the inside and all the windows. Looks so good but probably not for long.
Hope you all had a great day. BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE!

I'm sure everything was uber tasty. We haven't had pizza for weeks. Went into Safeway in Havasu and they had this really different pizza, so bought it, took it home, added stuff to it and it was the most delicious we've ever eaten. Haven't seen a Safeway or that pizza since. Probably just as well.

Big temperature difference between this year and last year here in Yuma. Lovely and warm this year. Can't believe we're leaving here on Wednesday. I might have to start cooking again. Emerald Cove will be home for three weeks starting on Wednesday with J and the girls arriving on the Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday this weekend and we've already got our table reserved at the Q. Don't care who wins so we'll cheer for both teams unless we're sitting next to really rabid fans. No guns allowed in the Q though. We go there every year for Super Bowl and it is a hoot.

Hosting Happy Hour today so must check to see what we have in the way of food.

Love to all
